Vegetable tanned cowhide has naturally-occurring marks and abrasions that add to its character, but it requires an occasional treatment to restore fat lost in the tanning process. Buttercream Leather Balm is a rich mixture of pure fats and waxes to feed and protect your favorite leather goods, and regular application will keep fibers supple and deter cracking and flaking. It will also enhance color and speed up the natural darkening process to a lustrous, deep honey patina.

How to apply
Apply to clean, dry leather using your hands or a soft, undyed cloth (an old white t-shirt is perfect). There is no need to rub it into the leather. Allow it to sit on the surface the same way you wear lip balm – just a thin but even coat. Buttercream will be absorbed into the fibers within 20 - 30 minutes, and your leather will darken upon application until the fats can disburse into the fibers. Please test on an inconspicuous area first if this is a concern.

How often to apply
Apply one month after you receive your bag, and twice yearly after that. A helpful tip is to store your Buttercream-infused cloth in a ziplock bag for an occasional quick touch-up.
